Different Strategies

Several other strategies need to be developed after business strategy has been agreed. Strategies of interest to I.T. department are:

  • Information strategy – defines information required to support business strategy. States ‘what’ info required, ‘when’ required, ‘where’ requires and ‘who’ requires it.
  • Human resource strategy – defines required human resources: type, location and skill sets. Matters to I.T. as human resources will use applications provided by I.T.
  • Process strategy – defines processes used by human resources and usually requires I.T. support.
  • Information Technology strategy – defines delivery of information strategy, i.e. applications used, type of software, network & hardware.

I.T. management will play big role in development and implementation of organisation’s business strategy.
